قَالَ قَرَأْتُ عَلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ : مَالِكٌ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكٌ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حِينَ خَرَجَ مِنْ الْمَسْجِدِ وَهُوَ يُرِيدُ الصَّفَا وَهُوَ يَقُولُ نَبْدَأُ بِمَا بَدَأَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ بِهِ.
English Translation
He said: I read to Abd al-Rahman: Malik - and Ishaq told us, Malik informed us, from Ja'far ibn Muhammad, from his father, that Jabir ibn Abdullah said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), when he went out of the mosque heading for Safa, saying: We begin with what Allah, Mighty and Majestic, began with.
