English Translation
Affan and Bahz told us, they said: Hammam told us - Bahz said: Qatadah told us - who said: Sulayman ibn Hisham said to me: This one, meaning al-Zuhri, does not let us eat anything without commanding us to perform ablution afterward, meaning whatever the fire has touched. He said: I said to him: I asked Sa'id ibn al-Musayyab about it, and he said: When you eat it, it is wholesome and there is no ablution required for it; but when it comes out, it is impure and ablution is required for that. He said: Is there anyone in the town who could confirm this? I said: Yes, the most senior man in knowledge in the Arabian Peninsula. He said: Who? I said: Ata' ibn Abi Rabah. Bahz said: So he sent for him, and he was brought. He said: he sent to him, and he said: Jabir told me that they ate bread and meat with Abu Bakr al-Siddiq, and then he prayed without performing ablution.
