حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي ثَابِتٌ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ مَرَّ بِي النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَنَا أَلْعَبُ مَعَ الصِّبْيَانِ فَسَلَّمَ عَلَيْنَا ثُمَّ دَعَانِي فَبَعَثَنِي إِلَى حَاجَةٍ لَهُ فَجِئْتُ وَقَدْ أَبْطَأْتُ عَنْ أُمِّي فَقَالَتْ مَا حَبَسَكَ أَيْنَ كُنْتَ فَقُلْتُ بَعَثَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَى حَاجَةٍ فَقَالَتْ أَيْ بُنَيَّ وَمَا هِيَ فَقُلْتُ إِنَّهَا سِرٌّ قَالَتْ لَا تُحَدِّثْ بِسِرِّ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَحَدًا ثُمَّ قَالَ وَاللَّهِ يَا ثَابِتُ لَوْ كُنْتُ حَدَّثْتُ بِهِ أَحَدًا لَحَدَّثْتُكَ.
English Translation
Affan told us: Hammad ibn Salama told us: Thabit informed me, from Anas, he said: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, passed by me while I was playing with the boys. He greeted us, then called me and sent me on an errand of his. I came back having been delayed from my mother, so she said: "What kept you? Where were you?" I said: "The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, sent me on an errand." She said: "O my son, and what was it?" I said: "It is a secret." She said: "Do not tell anyone the secret of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him." Then he said: "By Allah, O Thabit, if I had told anyone I would have told you."
