English Translation
Muhammad ibn Abdullah ibn al-Muthanna told us: Sulayman al-Taymi told us, from Anas ibn Malik, that the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, said on the day of Badr: 'Who will look and see what Abu Jahl has done?' He said: So Abdullah ibn Mas'ud went and found that the two sons of Afra' had struck him down until he had collapsed. He said: Ibn Mas'ud took hold of his beard and said, 'Are you Abu Jahl? Are you the misguided old man?' He said: Abu Jahl said, 'Is there any rank above a man whom you have killed?' - or he said, 'whom his own people have killed.'
