حَدَّثَنَا عِصَامُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ وَيُونُسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا الْعَطَّافُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ قَالَ صَلَّيْنَا مَعَ عُمَرَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ الظُّهْرَ ثُمَّ انْصَرَفْنَا إِلَى أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ نَسْأَلُ عَنْهُ وَكَانَ شَاكِيًا فَلَمَّا دَخَلْنَا عَلَيْهِ سَلَّمْنَا قَالَ أَصَلَّيْتُمْ قُلْنَا نَعَمْ قَالَ يَا جَارِيَةُ هَلُمِّي لِي وَضُوءًا مَا صَلَّيْتُ وَرَاءَ إِمَامٍ بَعْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَشْبَهَ صَلَاةً بِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ إِمَامِكُمْ هَذَا قَالَ عِصَامٌ فِي حَدِيثِهِ كَذَا قَالَ أَبِي قَالَ زَيْدٌ مَا يَذْكُرُ فِي ذَلِكَ أَبَا بَكْرٍ وَلَا عُمَرَ قَالَ قَالَ زَيْدٌ وَكَانَ عُمَرُ يُتِمُّ الرُّكُوعَ وَالسُّجُودَ وَيُخَفِّفُ الْقُعُودَ وَالْقِيَامَ.
English Translation
‘Isam ibn Khalid and Yunus ibn Muhammad told us, they said: al-‘Attaf ibn Khalid told us, from Zayd ibn Aslam, who said: We prayed the Zuhr prayer with ‘Umar ibn ‘Abd al-‘Aziz, then we went to Anas ibn Malik to ask after him, for he was ill. When we entered upon him, we gave the greeting of peace. He said, "Have you prayed?" We said, "Yes." He said, "O servant-girl, bring me water for ablution - I have never prayed behind any imam after the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, whose prayer more resembled that of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, than this imam of yours." ‘Isam said in his account: thus said my father. Zayd said: he did not mention Abu Bakr or ‘Umar in that regard. Zayd said: ‘Umar used to complete the bowing and prostration fully, but shorten the sitting and standing.
