حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ حَدَّثَنَا أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ أَنَّ أُكَيْدِرَ دُومَةَ أَهْدَى إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جُبَّةَ سُنْدُسٍ أَوْ دِيبَاجٍ شَكَّ فِيهِ سَعِيدٌ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَنْهَى عَنْ الْحَرِيرِ فَلَبِسَهَا فَتَعَجَّبَ النَّاسُ مِنْهَا فَقَالَ وَالَّذِي نَفْسُ مُحَمَّدٍ بِيَدِهِ لَمَنَادِيلُ سَعْدِ بْنِ مُعَاذٍ فِي الْجَنَّةِ أَحْسَنُ مِنْهَا.
English Translation
Rawh told us, Shu'bah told us, from Qatadah — Anas ibn Malik told us — that Ukaydir of Dumah presented the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, with a cloak of fine silk or brocade, Sa'id was uncertain which, before silk was prohibited, and he wore it, and the people marveled at it. He said: By Him in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, the handkerchiefs of Sa'd ibn Mu'adh in Paradise are finer than this.
