English Translation
Isma'il narrated to us: Humayd narrated to us, from Anas, that Abdullah ibn Salam heard of the arrival of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, in Medina, so he came to him and asked him about things, saying: "I am going to ask you about things that none but a prophet would know." He asked: "What is the first sign of the Hour, what is the first food the people of Paradise will eat, and why does a child resemble its father in one case and its mother in another?" He said: "Gabriel has just informed me of them." Ibn Salam said: "That one is the enemy of the Jews among the angels." He said: "As for the first sign of the Hour, it is a fire that will gather them from the east to the west; and the first food the people of Paradise will eat is the extra lobe of the liver of a great fish; as for the child, if the man's fluid precedes the woman's fluid, the child resembles him, and if the woman's fluid precedes the man's fluid, she gives it its resemblance."
