حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ حَدَّثَنِي شُعْبَةُ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ { إِنَّا فَتَحْنَا لَكَ فَتْحًا مُبِينًا لِيَغْفِرَ لَكَ اللَّهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِكَ وَمَا تَأَخَّرَ } ثُمَّ يَقُولُ قَالَ أَصْحَابُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ هَنِيئًا مَرِيئًا لَكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَمَا لَنَا فَنَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ { لِيُدْخِلَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ جَنَّاتٍ تَجْرِي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الْأَنْهَارُ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا وَيُكَفِّرَ عَنْهُمْ سَيِّئَاتِهِمْ } و قَالَ شُعْبَةُ كَانَ قَتَادَةُ يَذْكُرُ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ فِي قَصَصِهِ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ لَمَّا رَجَعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ الْحُدَيْبِيَةِ { إِنَّا فَتَحْنَا لَكَ فَتْحًا مُبِينًا لِيَغْفِرَ لَكَ اللَّهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِكَ وَمَا تَأَخَّرَ } ثُمَّ يَقُولُ قَالَ أَصْحَابُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ هَنِيئًا لَكَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثُ قَالَ فَظَنَنْتُ أَنَّهُ كُلُّهُ عَنْ أَنَسٍ فَأَتَيْتُ الْكُوفَةَ فَحَدَّثْتُ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَنَسٍ ثُمَّ رَجَعْتُ فَلَقِيتُ قَتَادَةَ بِوَاسِطٍ فَإِذَا هُوَ يَقُولُ أَوَّلُهُ عَنْ أَنَسٍ وَآخِرُهُ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ قَالَ فَأَتَيْتُهُمْ بِالْكُوفَةِ فَأَخْبَرْتُهُمْ بِذَلِكَ.
English Translation
Hajjaj told us: Shu'bah told me, from Qatadah, from 'Ikrimah, that he said: When this verse was revealed, {Indeed, We have granted you a clear victory, that Allah may forgive you your past and future sin} — then, he says, the Companions of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "May it be pleasant and wholesome for you, O Messenger of Allah, but what is there for us?" So this verse was revealed: {That He may admit the believing men and believing women into gardens beneath which rivers flow, abiding therein forever, and remove from them their sins}. And Shu'bah said: Qatadah used to mention this hadith in his storytelling sessions as being from Anas ibn Malik, saying: this verse was revealed when the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, returned from al-Hudaybiyyah: {Indeed, We have granted you a clear victory, that Allah may forgive you your past and future sin} — then, he says, the Companions of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "May it be pleasant for you" — this hadith. He said: So I thought it was all from Anas, so I went to Kufa and narrated it from Qatadah from Anas. Then I returned and met Qatadah at Wasit, and there he was saying, its beginning is from Anas and its end is from 'Ikrimah. He said: So I went to them in Kufa and informed them of that.
