English Translation
Husayn ibn Muhammad and Affan told us, they said, Khalaf ibn Khalifah told us, Hafs ibn Umar told us, from Anas, who said: I was sitting with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, in the gathering, and a man was standing praying. When he bowed and prostrated, he sat and recited the tashahhud, then supplicated, saying, "O Allah, I ask You, for to You belongs all praise, there is no god but You, the Ever-Merciful, Originator of the heavens and the earth, Possessor of Majesty and Honor, O Ever-Living, O Sustainer, I ask You..." The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "Do you know what he supplicated with?" They said, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said, "By Him in whose hand is my soul, he has indeed supplicated Allah by His Greatest Name, which if He is called upon by it, He answers, and if He is asked by it, He gives." Affan said: "he supplicated by His Name."
