English Translation
Arim told us, Mu'tamir told us, he said, I heard my father narrate that Anas said: It was said to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, "Why don't you go to Abdullah ibn Ubayy?" So the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, set off, riding a donkey, and the Muslims went along walking, and it was salty, barren ground. When the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, approached him, he said, "Keep away from me, for by Allah, the smell of your donkey has offended me." A man from the Ansar said, "By Allah, the donkey of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, has a better smell than you." Then a man from Abdullah's own people became angry for his sake, and each side's companions became angry for their man, and there was a fight between them with palm-branches, hands, and sandals. It has reached us that this was revealed concerning them: {And if two parties of believers fight, then make peace between them.}
