حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ وَيَزِيدُ أَخْبَرَنَا هِشَامٌ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ قَالَ كُنَّا نُرْزَقُ تَمْرَ الْجَمْعِ قَالَ يَزِيدُ تَمْرًا مِنْ تَمْرِ الْجَمْعِ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَنَبِيعُ الصَّاعَيْنِ بِالصَّاعِ فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ لَا صَاعَيْ تَمْرٍ بِصَاعٍ وَلَا صَاعَيْ حِنْطَةٍ بِصَاعٍ وَلَا دِرْهَمَيْنِ بِدِرْهَمٍ قَالَ يَزِيدُ لَا صَاعَا تَمْرٍ بِصَاعٍ وَلَا صَاعَا حِنْطَةٍ بِصَاعٍ.
English Translation
Abd al-Malik ibn Amr narrated to us, Hisham narrated to us, and Yazid narrated to us, Hisham informed us, from Yahya ibn Abi Kathir, from Abu Salamah, from Abu Sa'id, who said: We used to be provided with the mixed-variety dates — Yazid said: "dates from the mixed variety" — in the time of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and we would sell two sa's of it for one sa' of better dates. This reached the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and he said: "No two sa's of dates for one sa', nor two sa's of wheat for one sa', nor two dirhams for one dirham." Yazid said: "No two sa's of dates for one sa', nor two sa's of wheat for one sa'."
