English Translation
Yahya told us: Ibn Abi Dhi'b told us: Sa'id ibn Abi Sa'id told us, from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Sa'id, from his father, who said: We were kept from the prayers on the day of the Trench until well after sunset, and that was before what was revealed concerning the fighting was revealed. When we were spared the fighting — and that is His saying: {And God sufficed the believers in the fighting, and God is Ever Strong, Mighty} — the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded Bilal, and he gave the call for the noon prayer, and he prayed it as he would pray it at its proper time; then he gave the call for the afternoon prayer, and he prayed it as he would pray it at its time; then he gave the call for the sunset prayer, and he prayed it as he would pray it at its time. Abu Khalid al-Ahmar told us, from Ibn Abi Dhi'b, and he mentioned it with its chain and its meaning, adding: and that was before the prayer of fear was revealed: {then on foot or riding}.
