English Translation
Abd al-Rahman - that is, Ibn Mahdi - told us, Malik told us, from Dawud ibn al-Husayn, from Abu Sufyan, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri: that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade al-muzabanah and al-muhaqalah. Al-muzabanah is buying fruit still on the palm trees in exchange for an estimated equal measure of dried dates; and al-muhaqalah is leasing land for a share of its produce.
