حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، أَخْبَرَنِي زَيْدٌ الْعَمِّيُّ، عَنْ أَبِي الصِّدِّيقِ النَّاجِيِّ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ رَخَّصَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم لأُمَّهَاتِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ فِي الذَّيْلِ شِبْرًا ثُمَّ اسْتَزَدْنَهُ فَزَادَهُنَّ شِبْرًا فَكُنَّ يُرْسِلْنَ إِلَيْنَا فَنَذْرَعُ لَهُنَّ ذِرَاعًا .
English Translation
Hadrat Abdullah ibn Umar (may Allah be well pleased with them both) narrates: The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) granted the Mothers of the Believers (may Allah be well pleased with them all) licence to let their garments hang down by a span. They then requested more, and he granted them an additional span. So they would send their garments to us, and we would measure out one forearm's length for them.
Urdu Translation
حضرت عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما فرماتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے امّہاتُ المؤمنین رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہن کو ایک بالشت دامن لٹکانے کی رخصت عطا فرمائی، پھر انہوں نے مزید بڑھانے کی درخواست کی تو آپ نے انہیں مزید ایک بالشت کی رخصت مرحمت فرمائی۔ چنانچہ وہ ہمارے پاس کپڑے بھیجتیں تو ہم ان کے لیے ایک ہاتھ ناپ دیا کرتے تھے۔
