Ikrimah said: There were two co-wives, and there was quarreling between them. One of them threw a stone at the other, causing her to miscarry a dead boy, and the woman died. The Prophet (peace be upon him) ruled that the blood money be upon the killer's clan. The uncle of the victim said: 'O Messenger of Allah, she miscarried a boy whose hair had grown.' The father of the killer said: 'He is a liar! By Allah, the child did not cry out, nor did he reason, nor drink, nor eat, so his blood should be unaccounted for.' The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'Rhymed prose like that of pre-Islamic soothsayers? I decree a ghurrah (a slave) for the unborn child.' Ibn Abbas said: One of them was named Mulaykah and the other Umm Atif.
