وعنه أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: "صوموا لرؤيته، وأفطروا لرؤيته، فإن غَبِيَ عليكم فأكملوا عدة شعبان ثلاثين" ((متفق عليه وهذا لفظ البخاري)). وفي رواية مسلم: "فإن غم عليكم فصوموا ثلاثين يومًا".
الترجمة الإنجليزية
Hadrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be well pleased with him) reported that the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated, "Observe Saum (fast) on sighting the crescent and terminate it on sighting it (the new moon), but if the sky is cloudy before you, then complete the number (thirty days) of the month.".
الترجمة الأردية
حضرت ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: '(رمضان کا) چاند دیکھ کر روزہ رکھو اور چاند دیکھ کر افطار کرو (عید کرو)، اگر (بادلوں کی وجہ سے) تم پر چھپا رہے تو شعبان کے تیس دن پورے کرو۔'
