It is narrated from the Mother of the Believers Aishah al-Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) that when (the conqueror of Persia) Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) passed away, the pure wives of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) sent word to bring his funeral through the mosque so that they too might pray over it, and so it was done. And his funeral was placed before their chambers so that they might pray, and the funeral was taken out through the Gate of the Funerals (Bab al-Jana'iz), which was towards the Maqa'id. When people heard of this, they began to find fault and said: Since when are funerals brought into the mosque? Upon this the Mother of the Believers Aishah al-Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: How quick the people are to find fault regarding a thing of which they have no knowledge! They found fault with us for bringing the funeral into the mosque, whereas the fact is that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) prayed the funeral prayer over Suhayl the son of Bayda inside the mosque itself. الترجمة الأردية
ام المؤمنین عائشہ صدیقہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے روایت ہے کہجب (فاتح ایران) سیدنا سعد بن ابی وقاص رضی اللہ عنہ نے انتقال فرمایا تو رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکی ازواج مطہرات نے کہلا بھیجا کہ ان کا جنازہ مسجد میں سے لے آؤ کہ ہم بھی نماز پڑھ لیں، سو ایسا ہی کیا گیا۔ اور ان کے حجروں کے آگے جنازہ رکھ دیا کہ وہ نماز پڑھ لیں اور جنازہ کو باب الجنائز سے جو مقاعد کی طرف تھا، وہاں سے باہر لے گئے۔ لوگوں کو یہ خبر پہنچی تو عیب کرنے لگے اور کہا کہ جنازہ کہیں مسجد میں لاتے ہیں؟ اس پر ام المؤمنین عائشہ صدیقہ رضی اللہ عنہا نے کہا کہ لوگ کیا جلدی عیب کرنے لگے اس چیز کے متعلق جس کا ان کو علم نہیں ہے۔ انہوں نے ہم پر عیب کیا کہ جنازہ کو مسجد میں لائے حالانکہ بات یہ ہے کہ رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے بیضاء کے بیٹے سہیل کی نماز جنازہ مسجد کے اندر ہی پڑھی تھی۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 478]
