Narrated Abdullah bin Shaqiq (may Allah be pleased with him): I asked the Mother of the Believers, Aishah as-Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her), about the voluntary prayer of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him). She said: In my house he used to pray four rak'ahs before Zuhr, then he would go out and pray the obligatory prayer with the people, then come home and pray two rak'ahs. And he would pray the Maghrib prayer with the people, then come home and pray two rak'ahs. And he would pray the Isha prayer with the people and then come home and pray two rak'ahs. And at night he would pray nine rak'ahs, in which the Witr was included. And he would stand for much of the night praying, and sit for much of the night praying. When he recited standing, he would also bow and prostrate standing; and when he recited sitting, he would also prostrate and bow sitting. And when the dawn broke, he would pray two rak'ahs. سیدنا عبداللہ بن شفیق رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہمیں نے ام المؤمنین عائشہ صدیقہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکی نفل نماز کا حال پوچھا تو انہوں نے فرمایا: آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلممیرے گھر میں ظہر سے پہلے چار رکعت نماز پڑھتے تھے، پھر نکلتے اور لوگوں کے ساتھ فرض نماز پڑھتے، پھر گھر میں آ کر دو رکعت پڑھتے۔ اور لوگوں کے ساتھ مغرب کی نماز پڑھتے، پھر گھر میں آ کر دو رکعت پڑھتے۔ اور عشاء کی نماز لوگوں کے ساتھ پڑھتے اور گھر میں آ کر دو رکعت پڑھتے۔ اور رات کو نو رکعت پڑھتے کہ اسی میں وتر ہوتا۔ اور بڑی رات تک کھڑے ہو کر پڑھتے اور بڑی رات تک بیٹھ کر جب کھڑے ہو کر قرآت کرتے تو رکوع اور سجدہ بھی کھڑے ہو کر کرتے اور جب قرآت بیٹھ کر کرتے تو سجدہ اور رکوع بھی بیٹھ کر کرتے اور جب فجر نکلتی تو دو رکعت پڑھتے۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 373]
