Muhammad (ibn Sirin) said: Jundub said: On the Day of al-Jara'ah (that is, the day when there was to be strife at al-Jara'ah -- and al-Jara'ah is a place in Kufa where the people of Kufa gathered to fight Sa'id ibn al-'As when 'Uthman, may Allah be pleased with him, had sent him as governor of Kufa) I saw a man sitting, and I said, "Today there will be much bloodshed here." The man said, "Never, by Allah! There will be no bloodshed." I said, "By Allah! There will surely be bloodshed." He said, "By Allah! There will never be bloodshed." I said, "By Allah! There will surely be killing." He said, "By Allah! There will never be killing, for I heard a hadith from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) which he (peace be upon him) spoke to me concerning this." I said, "Then you are a bad companion to me today, for you hear me contradicting you, and you have heard a hadith from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) yet you do not restrain me." Then I said, "What is the use of this anger?" And I turned toward the man and asked, and I learned that he was Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him), the Companion of the Messenger.

محمد (ابن سیرین) کہتے ہیں کہجندب نے کہا کہ میں نے یوم الجرعہ (یعنی جس دن جرعہ میں فساد ہونے والا تھا، اور جرعہ کوفہ میں ایک مقام ہے جہاں کوفہ والے سعید بن عاص سے لڑنے کے لئے جمع ہوئے تھے جب سیدنا عثمان رضی اللہ عنہ نے ان کو کوفہ کا حاکم بنا کر بھیجا تھا) کو ایک شخص کو بیٹھے ہوئے دیکھا تو کہا کہ آج تو یہاں کئی خون ہوں گے۔ وہ شخص بولا کہ ہرگز نہیں، اللہ کی قسم! خون نہ ہوں گے۔ میں نے کہا کہ اللہ کی قسم! خون ضرور ہوں گے وہ بولا کہ اللہ کی قسم! ہرگز خون نہ ہوں گے۔ میں نے کہا اللہ کی قسم! ضرور قتل ہوں گے۔ اس نے کہا اللہ کی قسم! ہرگز قتل نہ ہوں گے، اور میں نے اس بارے میں رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمسے ایک حدیث سنی ہے جو آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے مجھ سے فرمائی تھی۔ میں نے کہا کہ تو آج میرا برا ساتھی ہے، اس لئے کہ تو سنتا ہے میں تیرا خلاف کر رہا ہوں اور تو نے رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمسے ایک حدیث سنی ہے اور مجھے منع نہیں کرتا۔ پھر میں نے کہا کہ اس غصے سے کیا فائدہ؟ اور میں اس شخص کی طرف متوجہ ہوا اور پوچھا تو معلوم ہوا کہ وہ سیدنا حذیفہ رضی اللہ عنہ صحابی رسول ہیں۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 1996]
