Narrated Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both): When Abdullah bin Ubayy bin Salul, the notorious hypocrite, died, his son Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him), the son of Abdullah bin Ubayy, came to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and said, "Give me your shirt for the shroud of my father," and he gave it. Then he said, "Pray the funeral prayer over him." So the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) stood to pray over him. Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) took hold of his garment and said, "O Messenger of Allah, do you pray over him, though Allah has forbidden you to pray over him?" The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, "Allah has given me the choice: 'Whether you ask forgiveness for them or do not ask forgiveness for them; even if you ask forgiveness for them seventy times, Allah will not forgive them.' (al-Tawbah: 80) So I will ask forgiveness more than seventy times." Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "But he was a hypocrite." So the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) prayed over him. Then this verse was revealed: "Never pray over any of them who dies, nor stand at his grave." (al-Tawbah: 84) (So Allah approved the opinion of Umar, may Allah be pleased with him.) الترجمة الأردية
سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہجب عبداللہ بن ابی ابن سلول مشہور منافق مرا تو اس کا بیٹا عبداللہ رضی اللہ عنہ بن عبداللہ بن ابی رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے پاس آیا اور عرض کیا کہ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلماپنا کرتہ میرے باپ کے کفن کے لئے دے دیجئیے تو آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے دیدیا۔ پھر اس نے کہا کہ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلماس پر نماز جنازہ پڑھا دیجئیے۔ پس رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلماس پر نماز پڑھنے کو کھڑے ہوئے۔ سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکا کپڑا تھاما اور فرمایا کہ یا رسول اللہ! کیا آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلماس پر نماز پڑھتے ہیں حالانکہ اللہ تعالیٰ نے آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکو اس پر نماز پڑھنے سے منع کیا ہے؟ رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ مجھے اللہ تعالیٰ نے اختیار دیا ہے کہ”تو ان کے لئے دعا کرے یا نہ کرے، اگر ستر بار بھی دعا کرے گا تو بھی اللہ تعالیٰ ان کو نہیں بخشے گا“(التوبہ: 80) تو میں ستر بار سے زیادہ دعا کروں گا۔ سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا کہ بیشک وہ منافق تھا۔ پس رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے اس پر نماز پڑھی۔ تب یہ آیت اتری کہ”مت نماز پڑھ کسی منافق پر جو مر جائے اور مت کھڑا ہو اس کی قبر پر“(التوبہ: 84)۔ (تو اللہ تعالیٰ نے سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ کی رائے کو پسند کیا)۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 1636]
