Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Prophet (peace be upon him) that he (peace be upon him) said: "The likeness of the guidance and knowledge with which Allah has sent me is like rain that fell upon the earth. Part of the earth absorbed the water and brought forth herbage and much vegetation. And part of it was hard and firm; it retained the water, then Allah the Exalted benefited people by it, so they drank from it, watered (their animals), and irrigated. And part of it was a barren plain that neither held the water nor grew grass (like a smooth rock upon which water falls and runs off). So this is the likeness of one who understood the religion of Allah and whom Allah benefited by that with which He sent me, so he himself knew and taught others as well; and of one who did not raise his head to it (that is, paid no heed) and did not accept the guidance of Allah with which I was sent."
الترجمة الأردية
سیدنا ابوموسیٰ اشعری رضی اللہ عنہ نبی کریمصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمسے روایت کرتے ہیں کہآپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا: اس کی مثال جو اللہ نے مجھے ہدایت اور علم دیا، ایسی ہے جیسے زمین پر بارش برسی اور اس (زمین) میں کچھ حصہ ایسا تھا جس نے پانی کو چوس لیا اور چارا اور بہت سا سبزہ اگایا۔ اور اس کا کچھ حصہ کڑا سخت تھا، اس نے پانی کو جمع رکھا، پھر اللہ تعالیٰ نے اس (پانی) سے لوگوں کو فائدہ پہنچایا کہ انہوں نے اس میں سے پیا، پلایا اور چرایا۔ اور اس کا کچھ حصہ چٹیل میدان ہے کہ نہ تو پانی کو روکے اور نہ گھاس اگائے۔ (جیسے چکنی چٹان کہ پانی لگا اور چل دیا) تو یہ اس کی مثال ہے کہ جس نے اللہ کے دین کو سمجھا اور اللہ نے اس کو اس چیز سے فائدہ دیا جو مجھے عطا فرمائی، اس نے آپ بھی جانا اور دوسروں کو بھی سکھایا اور جس نے اس طرف سر نہ اٹھایا (یعنی توجہ نہ کی) اور اللہ کی ہدایت کو جس کو میں دے کر بھیجا گیا قبول نہ کیا۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 1525]
