Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) says: Musaylimah the Liar (who falsely claimed prophethood, and for that reason his title became 'the Liar'; after the death of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) he was killed along with his followers) came to Medina the Radiant in the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and said, "If Muhammad (peace be upon him) gives me the caliphate after him, I will follow him." Musaylimah the Liar had brought with him many people of his tribe. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) came to him, and with him (peace be upon him) was Thabit ibn Qays ibn Shammas (may Allah be pleased with him), and in his (peace be upon him) hand was a piece of wood. He (peace be upon him) halted before Musaylimah's people and said, "O Musaylimah! Even if you ask me for this piece of wood, I will not give it to you, and I am not one to decide concerning you against the command of Allah, and if you do not accept my word, Allah the Exalted will kill you (this saying of his (peace be upon him) came true). And I surely know you to be the very one whom I was shown concerning you in a dream, and this Thabit will answer you on my behalf." Then he (peace be upon him) departed from there. Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) said: I asked the people what the Prophet (peace be upon him) meant by saying, "You are the very one whom I was shown concerning you in a dream," and Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) related to me that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, "I was sleeping when I saw (in a dream) two gold bracelets on my hands. They seemed evil to me, and in the dream it was inspired to me that I should blow upon them. I blew, and they both flew away. I interpreted them to mean two liars who will appear after me. One of them is al-Ansi of San'a and the other the one of Yamamah (Musaylimah the Liar)."

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہمسیلمہ کذاب (جو نبوت کا جھوٹا دعویٰ کرتا تھا اور اسی وجہ سے اس کا لقب کذاب ہوا، رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکی وفات کے بعد مع اپنے تابعین کے مارا گیا) رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے زمانے میں مدینہ منورہ میں آیا اور کہنے لگا کہ اگر محمد (صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم) مجھے اپنے بعد خلافت دیں تو میں ان کی پیروی کرتا ہوں۔ مسیلمہ کذاب اپنے ساتھ اپنی قوم کے بہت سے لوگ لے کر آیا تھا۔ رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلماس کے پاس تشریف لائے اور آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے ساتھ ثابت بن قیس بن شماس رضی اللہ عنہ تھے اور آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے ہاتھ میں لکڑی کا ایک ٹکڑا تھا۔ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلممسیلمہ کے لوگوں کے پاس ٹھہرے اور فرمایا کہ اے مسیلمہ! اگر تو مجھ سے یہ لکڑی کا ٹکڑا مانگے تو بھی تجھ کو نہ دوں گا اور میں اللہ کے حکم کے خلاف تیرے بارے میں فیصلہ کرنے والا نہیں اور اگر تو میرا کہنا نہ مانے گا تو اللہ تعالیٰ تجھ کو قتل کرے گا (آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکا یہ فرمانا صحیح ہو گیا) اور یقیناً تجھے وہی جانتا ہوں جو مجھے تیرے بارہ میں خواب میں دکھایا گیا ہے اور یہ ثابت تجھے میری طرف سے جواب دے گا۔ پھر آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلموہاں سے چلے گئے۔ سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما نے کہا کہ میں نے لوگوں سے پوچھا کہ یہ نبی کریمصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے کیا فرمایا کہ تو وہی ہے جو مجھے خواب میں تیرے بارے دکھلایا گیا، تو سیدنا ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے مجھ سے بیان کیا کہ رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے بیان کیا کہ میں سو رہا تھا کہ میں نے (خواب میں) اپنے ہاتھ میں سونے کے دو کنگن دیکھے، وہ مجھے برے معلوم ہوئے اور خواب ہی میں مجھ پر القا کیا گیا کہ ان کو پھونک مارو، میں نے پھونکا تو وہ دونوں اڑ گئے۔ میں نے ان کی تعبیر یہ کی کہ اس سے مراد دو جھوٹے ہیں، جو میرے بعد نکلیں گے۔ ان میں سے ایک عنسی صنعاء والا اور دوسرا یمامہ والا (مسیلمہ کذاب) ہے۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 1514]
