أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حِبَّانُ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ عَنْ فِطْرٍ عَنْ أَبِي الطُّفَيْلِ قَالَ دَخَلْتُ عَلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فَقُلْتُ يَا ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ إِنَّ قَوْمَكَ يَزْعُمُونَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ رَمَلَ وَأَنَّهُ سَنَةٌ فَقَالَ صَدَقُوا وَكَذَبُوا قَدْ رَمَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَلَيْسَ بِسُنَّةٍ ثُمَّ قَالَ «قَدِمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَالْمُشْرِكُونَ عَلَى قُعَيْقِعَانَ وَقَدْ تَحَدَّثُوا أَنَّ بِصَحَابَةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ هُزَالًا وَجَهْدًا فَأَمَرَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنْ يَرْمُلُوا لِيُرِيَهُمْ أَنَّ بِهِمْ قُوَّةً»
الترجمة الإنجليزية
Hadrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be well pleased with him) narrated: Abu al-Tufayl said: I came to Ibn Abbas and said: 'O Ibn Abbas, your people claim that the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) performed raml and that it is a Sunnah.' He replied: 'They have spoken the truth and they have spoken falsely. The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) did perform raml, but it is not a Sunnah (to be followed permanently).' Then he said: «The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) came (to Makkah) while the polytheists were at Qu'ayqi'an, and they had been saying that the Companions of the Messenger of Allah were emaciated and weak. So the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) ordered them to perform raml to show the polytheists that they had strength.»
الترجمة الأردية
حضرت ابن عباس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما سے روایت ہے: ابو الطفیل نے کہا: میں ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما کے پاس آیا اور کہا: اے ابن عباس، آپ کی قوم کا دعویٰ ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے رمل کیا اور یہ سنت ہے۔ انہوں نے فرمایا: انہوں نے سچ بھی کہا اور جھوٹ بھی۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے رمل فرمایا لیکن یہ (ہمیشہ کے لیے) سنت نہیں ہے۔ پھر فرمایا: «رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم (مکہ) تشریف لائے اور مشرکین قعیقعان پر تھے اور انہوں نے بات چلائی تھی کہ رسول اللہ کے صحابہ لاغر اور کمزور ہیں۔ تو رسول اللہ نے انہیں رمل کا حکم دیا تاکہ مشرکین کو دکھائیں کہ ان میں طاقت ہے۔»
