أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعْدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ حَدَّثَنِي عَمِّي حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي عَنْ صَالِحِ بْنِ كَيْسَانَ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ «أَخْبَرَ أَنَّ الْمَسْجِدَ كَانَ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَبْنِيًّا مِنْ لَبِنٍ وَسَقْفُهُ الْجَرِيدُ وَعُمُدُهُ خَشَبُ النَّخْلِ فَلَمْ يَزِدْ فِيهِ أَبُو بَكْرٍ ؓ وَزَادَ فِيهِ عُمَرُ ؓ وَبَنَاهُ عَلَى بُنْيَانِهِ فِي عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِاللَّبِنِ وَالْجَرِيدِ وَأَعَادَ عُمُدَهُ خَشَبًا ثُمَّ غَيَّرَهُ عُثْمَانُ ؓ وَزَادَ فِيهِ زِيَادَةً كَبِيرَةً وَبَنَى جِدَارَهُ بِالْحِجَارَةِ الْمَنْقُوشَةِ وَجَعَلَ عُمُدَهُ مِنْ حِجَارَةٍ مَنْقُوشَةٍ وَسَقَّفَهُ بِالسَّاجِ»
الترجمة الإنجليزية
Ibn Umar narrated: 'The mosque in the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was built of bricks, its roof was of palm branches, and its pillars were of palm wood. Abu Bakr did not add to it, and Umar added to it and built it according to its construction in the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with bricks and palm branches, and he reinstated its pillars as wood. Then Uthman changed it and added to it a great addition, and he built its walls with carved stones and made its pillars of carved stones, and he roofed it with teak.'
