Narrated from Hadrat Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be well pleased with him) who said: We performed Hajj with Hadrat Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be well pleased with him). When he entered the tawaf, he faced the Stone and said: "I know that you are a stone that neither harms nor benefits. Had I not seen the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) kiss you, I would not have kissed you." Then he kissed it. Hadrat Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah ennoble his countenance) said to him: "Rather, O Commander of the Faithful, it does indeed harm and benefit." He said: "By the Book of Allah." Umar asked: "Where is that in the Book of Allah?" He said: "Allah the Exalted said: 'And when your Lord took from the children of Adam, from their loins, their descendants and made them testify concerning themselves: Am I not your Lord? They said: Yes indeed.' (7:172) Allah created Adam and wiped his back, then established them in affirming that He is the Lord and they are the servants. He took their covenants and pledges and wrote that on parchment. This Stone had two eyes and a tongue, and He said to it: Open your mouth. So it opened its mouth, and He placed that parchment in it and said: Testify for whoever comes to you with faithfulness on the Day of Resurrection." And I bear witness that I heard the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) say: "The Black Stone will be brought on the Day of Resurrection with a sharp tongue, testifying for whoever touched it with the declaration of divine oneness." So it, O Commander of the Faithful, does indeed harm and benefit. Hadrat Umar (may Allah be well pleased with him) said: "I seek refuge in Allah that I should live among a people in which you are not present, O Abu al-Hasan!"
الترجمة الأردية
حضرت ابوسعید خدری رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ ہم نے حضرت عمر بن خطاب رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کے ساتھ حج کیا۔ جب انہوں نے طواف شروع کیا تو حجر اسود کی طرف رخ کیا اور فرمایا: "میں جانتا ہوں کہ تو ایک پتھر ہے جو نہ نقصان پہنچاتا ہے نہ فائدہ۔ اگر میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کو تجھے بوسہ دیتے نہ دیکھا ہوتا تو میں تجھے بوسہ نہ دیتا۔" پھر انہوں نے اسے بوسہ دیا۔ حضرت علی المرتضیٰ کرّم اللہ تعالیٰ وجہہ الکریم نے ان سے فرمایا: "بلکہ اے امیرالمومنین! یہ نقصان بھی پہنچاتا ہے اور فائدہ بھی۔" فرمایا: "کتاب اللہ سے۔" عمر نے پوچھا: "کتاب اللہ میں یہ کہاں ہے؟" فرمایا: "اللہ تعالیٰ نے فرمایا: 'اور جب تیرے رب نے بنی آدم کی پشتوں سے ان کی اولاد نکالی اور انہیں اپنے اوپر گواہ بنایا: کیا میں تمہارا رب نہیں ہوں؟ انہوں نے کہا: ہاں بے شک۔' (7:172) اللہ تعالیٰ نے آدم کو پیدا کیا اور ان کی پشت پر ہاتھ پھیرا، پھر انہیں اس بات پر قائم کیا کہ وہ رب ہے اور وہ بندے ہیں۔ ان کے عہد اور میثاق لیے اور یہ ایک چرم پر لکھا۔ اس پتھر کی دو آنکھیں اور ایک زبان تھی، اس سے فرمایا: اپنا منہ کھول۔ اس نے منہ کھولا تو اس چرم کو اس میں رکھ دیا اور فرمایا: قیامت کے دن جو تیرے پاس وفاداری سے آئے اس کے حق میں گواہی دینا۔" اور میں گواہی دیتا ہوں کہ میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کو فرماتے سنا: "قیامت کے دن حجر اسود لایا جائے گا اور اس کی ایک تیز زبان ہوگی جو اس کے حق میں گواہی دے گی جس نے اسے توحید کے ساتھ چھوا ہوگا۔" پس اے امیرالمومنین! یہ نقصان بھی پہنچاتا ہے اور فائدہ بھی۔ حضرت عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے فرمایا: "میں اللہ کی پناہ مانگتا ہوں کہ ایسے لوگوں میں رہوں جن میں تو نہ ہو، اے ابوالحسن!"
