Narrated Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with them both): We were with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) taking part in jihad, and we had no women with us (and separation from women was hard to bear), so we said, "Should we castrate ourselves?" But he (peace be upon him) forbade us, and then he permitted us to marry a woman even by giving her a garment, that is, temporary marriage (mut'ah). Then Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) recited this verse: "O you who believe! Do not forbid the good things which Allah has made lawful for you ..." (Temporary marriage became forbidden at the Battle of Khaybar; see Book: The Accounts of the Military Expeditions... Chapter: The account of the Battle of Khaybar...).
الترجمة الأردية
سیدنا عبداللہ بن مسعود رضی اللہ عنہما روایت کرتے ہیں کہہم رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے ہمراہ جہاد میں شریک تھے اور ہمارے ساتھ عورتیں نہ تھیں (اور عورتوں سے جدائی برداشت نہ ہوتی تھی) تو ہم نے عرض کی کہ آیا ہم خصی ہو جائیں؟ تو آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے منع فرمایا اور پھر یہ اجازت دی کہ ایک کپڑا دے کر بھی عورت سے نکاح یعنی متعہ کر سکتے ہیں۔ اور پھر عبداللہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے یہ آیت پڑھی”اے ایمان والو! اللہ تعالیٰ نے جو پاکیزہ چیزیں تمہارے لیے حلال کی ہیں، ان کو حرام مت کرو ....۔“(نکاح متعہ غزوہ خیبر میں حرام ہو گیا دیکھے کتاب: غزوات کے بیان میں۔۔۔ باب: جنگ خیبر کا بیان۔۔۔)۔[مختصر صحيح بخاري/حدیث: 1737]
