Hadrat Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be well pleased with them both) narrates that a man came to the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and said: 'I saw tonight in a dream a canopy from which butter and honey were dripping, and I saw people catching it in their hands — some getting much and some getting little — and I saw a rope extending from the earth to the sky. I saw that you took hold of it and ascended, then another man took hold of it and ascended, then another man took hold of it and ascended, then another man took hold of it and it broke, but then it was reconnected.' Hadrat Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be well pleased with him) submitted: 'O Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)! May my parents be sacrificed for you! By Allah, permit me to interpret it.' The Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) declared: 'Interpret it.' He submitted: 'The canopy represents Islam, and the dripping honey and butter represent the Quran — its sweetness drips — so some people learn much of the Quran and some learn little. As for the rope extending from heaven to earth, it is the Truth upon which you stand. You hold fast to it and Allah will raise you high; then after you a man will take hold of it and ascend by it, then another man will take hold of it and ascend, then another man will take hold of it and it will break, but then it will be reconnected for him and he will ascend by it. Tell me, O Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) — may my parents be sacrificed for you — am I right or wrong?' The Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) declared: 'You are right in some and wrong in some.' Hadrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be well pleased with him) submitted: 'By Allah, you must tell me wherein I erred.' He (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) declared: 'Do not swear.'
الترجمة الأردية
حضرت عبداللہ بن عباس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما سے روایت ہے کہ ایک شخص رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوا اور عرض کیا: میں نے رات خواب میں دیکھا کہ ایک سائبان ہے جس سے گھی اور شہد ٹپک رہا ہے اور لوگ اسے اپنے ہاتھوں میں لے رہے ہیں — کوئی زیادہ اور کوئی کم — اور ایک رسی ہے جو زمین سے آسمان تک جا رہی ہے۔ میں نے دیکھا کہ آپ نے اسے پکڑا اور اوپر چڑھ گئے، پھر ایک اور شخص نے اسے پکڑا اور وہ بھی اوپر چڑھ گئے، پھر ایک اور شخص نے پکڑا اور وہ بھی چڑھ گئے، پھر ایک اور شخص نے پکڑا تو وہ ٹوٹ گئی، لیکن پھر جوڑ دی گئی۔ حضرت ابوبکر صدیق رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! میرے ماں باپ آپ پر فدا ہوں! اللہ کی قسم! مجھے اجازت دیجیے میں اس کی تعبیر بیان کروں۔ نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: تعبیر بیان کرو۔ انہوں نے عرض کیا: سائبان سے مراد اسلام ہے، اور جو شہد اور گھی ٹپک رہا تھا وہ قرآن مجید ہے — اس کی حلاوت ٹپکتی ہے — تو بعض لوگ قرآن زیادہ حاصل کرنے والے ہیں اور بعض کم۔ اور آسمان سے زمین تک جو رسی لٹکی ہوئی ہے وہ وہ حق ہے جس پر آپ قائم ہیں، آپ اسے پکڑے ہوئے ہیں اور اللہ تعالیٰ آپ کو بلند کرے گا، پھر آپ کے بعد ایک شخص اسے پکڑے گا اور اوپر جائے گا، پھر ایک اور شخص پکڑے گا اور اوپر جائے گا، پھر ایک اور شخص پکڑے گا تو وہ ٹوٹ جائے گی، لیکن پھر اس کے لیے جوڑ دی جائے گی اور وہ بھی اوپر جائے گا۔ مجھے بتائیے یا رسول اللہ! میرے ماں باپ آپ پر فدا ہوں، کیا میں نے درست تعبیر دی ہے یا غلط؟ نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: بعض درست ہے اور بعض غلط۔ حضرت ابوبکر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے عرض کیا: اللہ کی قسم! آپ مجھے بتائیے کہ میں کہاں غلط ہوا۔ آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: قسم نہ کھاؤ۔
