Hadrat Muhammad bin Abdur-Rahman bin Nawfal al-Qurashi narrated that he asked Hadrat Urwa bin al-Zubayr (upon him be mercy). Hadrat Urwa replied that the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) performed Hajj, as is well known. Hadrat Aisha (may Allah be well pleased with her), the Umm al-Mu'minin, informed me that the first thing he did upon arriving at Makkah was to perform ablution and then Tawaf of the Ka'bah — and it was not an Umra (but Hajj al-Qiran). Then Hadrat Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be well pleased with him) performed Hajj and the first thing he did was Tawaf of the Ka'bah — and it was not an Umra. Then Hadrat Umar al-Faruq (may Allah be well pleased with him) did likewise. Then Hadrat Uthman (may Allah be well pleased with him) performed Hajj, and I saw that the first thing he did was Tawaf of the Ka'bah — and it was not an Umra. Then Hadrat Mu'awiya and Hadrat Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be well pleased with them) did the same. Then I performed Hajj with my father Hadrat al-Zubayr bin al-Awwam (may Allah be well pleased with him), and the first thing he did was Tawaf — and it was not an Umra. Then I saw the Muhajirin and Ansar doing the same — and it was not an Umra. The last person I saw doing this was Hadrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be well pleased with them both) — and he did not make it into an Umra. Yet here is Hadrat Ibn Umar among them, and they do not ask him! None of these predecessors would do anything upon arriving except begin with Tawaf of the Ka'bah, and they would not come out of Ihram. I also saw my mother (Hadrat Asma', may Allah be well pleased with her) and my maternal aunt (Hadrat Aisha, the Umm al-Mu'minin, may Allah be well pleased with her) — upon arriving, the first thing they did was Tawaf, and they did not come out of Ihram. My mother informed me that she, her sister, Hadrat al-Zubayr (may Allah be well pleased with him), and certain others assumed Ihram for Umra, and when they touched the Black Stone Corner, they came out of Ihram.

ہم سے احمد بن عیسیٰ نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا کہ ہم سے عبداللہ بن وہب نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا کہ مجھے عمرو بن حارث نے خبر دی، انہیں محمد بن عبدالرحمٰن بن نوفل قرشی نے بتایا کہ انہوں نے حضرت عروہ بن حضرت زبیر رحمۃ اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ سے پوچھا۔ حضرت عروہ نے فرمایا کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے جیسا کہ معلوم ہے حج فرمایا تھا۔ مجھے حضرت اُمّ المؤمنین عائشہ صدیقہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا نے اس کے متعلق خبر دی کہ جب آپ مکہ مکرمہ تشریف لائے تو سب سے پہلا عمل یہ فرمایا کہ وضو فرمایا، پھر کعبہ کا طواف فرمایا، یہ آپ کا عمرہ نہیں تھا (بلکہ حجِ قران تھا)۔ اس کے بعد حضرت ابوبکر صدیق رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے حج فرمایا اور آپ نے بھی سب سے پہلے کعبہ کا طواف فرمایا، یہ آپ کا بھی عمرہ نہیں تھا۔ حضرت عمر فاروق رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے بھی اسی طرح فرمایا۔ پھر حضرت عثمان رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے حج فرمایا، میں نے دیکھا کہ سب سے پہلے آپ نے بھی کعبہ کا طواف فرمایا، آپ کا بھی یہ عمرہ نہیں تھا۔ پھر حضرت معاویہ اور حضرت عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہم نے بھی اسی طرح فرمایا۔ پھر میں نے اپنے والد حضرت زبیر بن عوام رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کے ساتھ بھی حج کیا، آپ نے بھی سب سے پہلے کعبہ کا طواف فرمایا، یہ عمرہ نہیں تھا۔ اس کے بعد مہاجرین و انصار کو بھی میں نے دیکھا کہ وہ بھی اسی طرح فرماتے تھے اور ان کا بھی یہ عمرہ نہیں ہوتا تھا۔ آخری ذات جسے میں نے اس طرح کرتے دیکھا وہ حضرت عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما کی تھی۔ حضرت ابن عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما ابھی موجود ہیں لیکن لوگ ان سے اس کے متعلق پوچھتے نہیں۔ یہ سارے اکابر مکہ مکرمہ میں داخل ہوتے ہی سب سے پہلا قدم طواف کے لیے اٹھاتے تھے، پھر یہ بھی احرام نہیں کھولتے تھے۔ میں نے اپنی والدہ (حضرت اسماء رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا) اور خالہ (حضرت اُمّ المؤمنین عائشہ صدیقہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا) کو بھی دیکھا کہ جب وہ تشریف لاتیں تو سب سے پہلے طواف فرماتیں اور یہ اس کے بعد احرام نہیں کھولتی تھیں۔ اور میری والدہ نے مجھے بتایا کہ انہوں نے اور ان کی بہن (حضرت اُمّ المؤمنین عائشہ صدیقہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا) اور حضرت زبیر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ اور فلاں فلاں نے عمرے کا احرام باندھا تھا، پھر جب انہوں نے (حجرِ اسود کا) استلام فرمایا تو احرام کھول دیا۔
