It is narrated from Umm al-Mu'minin Hadrat Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be well pleased with her) that in the lifetime of the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) the sun eclipsed. He went to the mosque, the people lined up behind him, he said Takbir and recited a lengthy recitation. Then he said Takbir and performed a lengthy bowing. Then he said 'Sami Allahu liman hamidah' and stood without prostrating, then recited a lengthy recitation shorter than the first. Then he said Takbir and performed a lengthy bowing shorter than the first. Then he said 'Sami Allahu liman hamidah, Rabbana wa lakal hamd,' then prostrated. He did the same in the second rak'a, completing four bowings and four prostrations in two rak'at. The sun cleared before he finished. He then stood and praised Allah as He deserves and declared: 'These two are signs among the signs of Allah; they do not eclipse because of anyone's death or birth. When you see them, hasten to the prayer.' Az-Zuhri said: I said to 'Urwa that your brother Abdullah bin az-Zubair prayed only two simple rak'at like the Fajr prayer when the eclipse occurred in Madinah. 'Urwa replied: 'Yes, he missed the Sunnah (tradition of the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)).'
الترجمة الأردية
حضرت اُمّ المؤمنین عائشہ صدیقہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا فرماتی ہیں کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی حیات مبارکہ میں سورج کو گرہن لگا۔ آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم مسجد میں تشریف لے گئے اور لوگوں نے آپ کے پیچھے صف بندی کی۔ آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے تکبیر فرمائی اور لمبی قرآت فرمائی، پھر تکبیر کے ساتھ لمبا رکوع فرمایا، پھر «سمع الله لمن حمده» فرما کر کھڑے ہوئے اور سجدہ نہیں فرمایا، بلکہ پھر لمبی قرآت فرمائی مگر پہلی سے کم، پھر تکبیر کے ساتھ لمبا رکوع فرمایا مگر پہلے سے کم، پھر «سمع الله لمن حمده ربنا ولك الحمد» فرمایا پھر سجدہ فرمایا۔ دوسری رکعت میں بھی اسی طرح فرمایا۔ یوں دو رکعتوں میں چار رکوع اور چار سجدے مکمل فرمائے۔ نماز سے فارغ ہونے سے پہلے سورج صاف ہو چکا تھا۔ پھر کھڑے ہو کر اللہ تعالیٰ کی شایان شان ثنا فرمائی اور ارشاد فرمایا: یہ دونوں اللہ کی نشانیاں ہیں، نہ کسی کی موت سے گرہن لگتا ہے نہ کسی کی زندگی سے۔ جب تم یہ دیکھو تو فوراً نماز کی طرف لپکو۔ زہری نے فرمایا: میں نے عروہ سے کہا کہ تمہارے بھائی عبداللہ بن حضرت زبیر نے تو مدینہ میں گرہن کے وقت صبح کی نماز کی طرح دو سادہ رکعتیں پڑھی تھیں۔ عروہ نے فرمایا: ہاں، وہ سنت سے چوک گئے۔
