حَدَّثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنَ الْمُثَنَّى قَال حَدَّثنا أَبُو المساور الفضل بن مساور قَال حَدَّثنا عَوْفٌ عَنْ مَيْمُونٍ أَبِي عَبد اللَّهِ عَن عَبد اللَّهِ بْنِ بُرَيدة عَن أَبيهِ رَضِي اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ لَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمُ خَيْبَرَ نَزَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيه وَسَلَّم بِحَضْرَةِ أَهْلِ خَيْبَرَ فَأَعْطَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيه وَسَلَّم اللِّوَاءَ عُمَر بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِي اللَّهُ عَنْهُ وَنَهَضَ مَنْ نَهَضَ مَعَهُ مِنَ النَّاسِ فَلَقَوْا أَهْلَ خَيْبَرَ فَكُشِفَ عُمَر رَضِي اللَّهُ عَنْهُ وَأَصْحَابُهُ فَرَجَعَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيه وَسَلَّم يُجَبِّنُهُ أَصْحَابُهُ وهُو يُجَبِّنُ أَصْحَابَهُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيه وَسَلَّم لأُعْطِيَنَّ الرَّايَةَ غَدًا رَجُلا يُحِبُّ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَيُحِبُّهُ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ فَلَمَّا كَانَ مِنَ الْغَدِ دَعَا عَلِيًّا رَضِي اللَّهُ عَنْهُ فَدَفَعَهَا إِلَيْهِ وهُو أَرْمَدُ فَتَفَلَ فِي عَيْنِهِ وَأَعْطَاهُ اللِّوَاءَ وَسَارَ مَعَهُ النَّاسُ فَأَتَى أَهْلَ خَيْبَرَ وَإِذَا مَرْحَبٌ يَرْتَجِزُ بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ يقولقد علمت خيبر أني مرحب شاك السِّلاحِ بَطَلٌ مُجَرَّبُأَطْعَنُ أَحْيَانًا وَحِينًا أَضْرِبُ إِذِ السُّيُوفُ أَقْبَلَتْ تَلَهَّبُفَاخْتَلَفَ هُوَ وَعَلِيٌّ رَضِي اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ضَرَبْتَيْنِ فَضَرَبَهُ عَلِيٌّ رَضِي اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ضَرْبَةً عَلَى هَامَتِهِ حَتَّى عَضَّ السَّيْفُ أَضْرَاسَهُ وَسَمِعَ أَهْلُ الْعَسْكَرِ صَوْتَ ضَرْبَتِهِ وَمَا تَتَامَّ آخِرُ النَّاسِ حَتَّى فَتَحَ أَوَّلُهُمْوَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ لا نَعْلَمُهُ يُرْوَى عَن بُرَيدة إلاَّ مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ أَهْلِ خَيْبَرَ فَأَعْطَى رَ��ُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيه وَسَلَّم اللِّوَاءَ عُمَر بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِي اللَّهُ عَنْهُ وَنَهَضَ مَنْ نَهَضَ مَعَهُ مِنَ النَّاسِ فَلَقَوْا أَهْلَ خَيْبَرَ فَكُشِفَ عُمَر رَضِي اللَّهُ عَنْهُ وَأَصْحَابُهُ فَرَجَعَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيه وَسَلَّم يُجَبِّنُهُ أَصْحَابُهُ وهُو يُجَبِّنُ أَصْحَابَهُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيه وَسَلَّم لأُعْطِيَنَّ الرَّايَةَ غَدًا رَجُلا يُحِبُّ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَيُحِبُّهُ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ فَلَمَّا كَانَ مِنَ الْغَدِ دَعَا عَلِيًّا رَضِي اللَّهُ عَنْهُ فَدَفَعَهَا إِلَيْهِ وهُو أَرْمَدُ فَتَفَلَ فِي عَيْنِهِ وَأَعْطَاهُ اللِّوَاءَ وَسَارَ مَعَهُ النَّاسُ فَأَتَى أَهْلَ خَيْبَرَ وَإِذَا مَرْحَبٌ يَرْتَجِزُ بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ يقولقد علمت خيبر أني مرحب شاك السِّلاحِ بَطَلٌ مُجَرَّبُأَطْعَنُ أَحْيَانًا وَحِينًا أَضْرِبُ إِذِ السُّيُوفُ أَقْبَلَتْ تَلَهَّبُفَاخْتَلَفَ هُوَ وَعَلِيٌّ رَضِي اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ضَرَبْتَيْنِ فَضَرَبَهُ عَلِيٌّ رَضِي اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ضَرْبَةً عَلَى هَامَتِهِ حَتَّى عَضَّ السَّيْفُ أَضْرَاسَهُ وَسَمِعَ أَهْلُ الْعَسْكَرِ صَوْتَ ضَرْبَتِهِ وَمَا تَتَامَّ آخِرُ النَّاسِ حَتَّى فَتَحَ أَوَّلُهُمْوَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ لا نَعْلَمُهُ يُرْوَى عَن بُرَيدة إلاَّ مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ

Muhammad ibn al-Muthanna narrated to us, he said: Abu al-Masawir al-Fadl ibn Masawir narrated to us, he said: Awf narrated to us from Maymun Abu Abdullah from Abdullah ibn Burayda from his father (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: On the day of Khaybar, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) encamped near the people of Khaybar and gave the banner to Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him). Those who went with him from the people set out, and they met the people of Khaybar. Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) and his companions were repelled, and he returned to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), his companions accusing him of cowardice while he accused them of cowardice. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Tomorrow I shall give the banner to a man who loves Allah and His Messenger, and whom Allah and His Messenger love." The next morning he called Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and handed it to him while he had sore eyes. He spat in his eye and gave him the banner. The people marched with him, and he came to the people of Khaybar, and there was Marhab reciting battle poetry before them, saying: 'Khaybar knows that I am Marhab, fully armed, a tested warrior. I thrust at times and at times I strike, when swords come blazing.' He and Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) exchanged two blows. Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) struck him a blow on the crown of his head until the sword bit into his molars. The people of the camp heard the sound of his strike, and before the last of the people had gathered, the first of them had conquered. This hadith, we do not know it to be narrated from Burayda except through this route with this chain.
