حَدَّثنا مُحَمد بن الوليد البسري قَال حَدَّثنا مُحَمد بن عُبَيد قَال حَدَّثنا صَالِحُ بْنُ حَيَّانَ عَنْ عَبد اللَّهِ بْنِ بُرَيدة عَن أَبيهِ رَضِي اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيه وَسَلَّم مَسَّ صَنَمًا فَتَوَضَّأَوَرَأَيْتُهُ عِنْدِي فِي مَوْضِعَيْنِ فِي مَوْضِعٍ عَنْ يَعْلَى وَفِي مَوْضِعٍ عَنْ مُحَمد وَإنَّما مَعْنَاهُ مَسَّ صَنَمًا فَتَوَضَّأَ غَسَلَ يَدَيْهِ اللَّهُ عَلَيه وَسَلَّم مَسَّ صَنَمًا فَتَوَضَّأَوَرَأَيْتُهُ عِنْدِي فِي مَوْضِعَيْنِ فِي مَوْضِعٍ عَنْ يَعْلَى وَفِي مَوْضِعٍ عَنْ مُحَمد وَإنَّما مَعْنَاهُ مَسَّ صَنَمًا فَتَوَضَّأَ غَسَلَ يَدَيْهِ
الترجمة الإنجليزية
Muhammad ibn al-Walid al-Basri narrated to us, he said: Muhammad ibn Ubayd narrated to us, he said: Salih ibn Hayyan narrated to us from Abdullah ibn Burayda from his father (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) touched an idol and then performed wudu. I have found it in my notes in two places: in one from Ya'la and in another from Muhammad. The meaning is that he touched an idol and performed wudu, meaning he washed his hands.
