أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحُسَيْنِ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ الْقَطَّانُ أنبأ أَبُو سَهْلِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ الْقَطَّانُ ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ الْأَهْوَازِيُّ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ خَلَّادٍ ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ كَانَ خَاتَمُ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فِي هَذِهِ وَأَشَارَ إِلَى خِنْصَرِهِ مِنْ يَدِهِ الْيُسْرَى قَالَ الشَّيْخُ وَيُشْبِهُ أَنْ يَكُونَ هَذَا أَصَحَّ مِنْ رِوَايَةِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ أَنَسٍ فِي الْخَاتَمِ الَّذِي اتَّخَذَهُ مِنْ وَرِقٍ فَقَدْ رَوَى الزُّهْرِيُّ عَنْ أَنَسٍ أنَّهُ رَأَى رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فِي يَدِهِ خَاتَمٌ مِنْ وَرِقٍ يَوْمًا وَاحِدًا ثُمَّ إِنَّ النَّاسَ اصْطَنَعُوا الْخَوَاتِيمَ مِنْ وَرِقٍ وَلَبِسُوهَا فَطَرَحَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ خَاتَمَهُ فَطَرَحَ النَّاسُ خَوَاتِيمَهُمْ وَيُشْبِهُ أَنْ يَكُونَ ذِكْرُ الْوَرِقِ فِي هَذِهِ الْقِصَّةِ وَهْمًا سَبَقَ إِلَيْهِ لِسَانُ الزُّهْرِيِّ فَحُمِلَ عَنْهُ عَلَى الْوَهْمِ فَالَّذِي طَرَحَهُ هُوَ خَاتَمُهُ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ ثُمَّ اتَّخَذَ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ خَاتَمَهُ مِنْ وَرِقٍ وَرِوَايَةُ ابْنِ عُمَرَ تَدُلُّ عَلَى أَنَّ الَّذِي جَعَلَهُ فِي يَمِينِهِ هُوَ خَاتَمُهُ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ ثُمَّ طَرَحَهُ فَيُشْتَبَهُ أَنْ يَكُونَ الْغَلَطُ فِي رِوَايَةِ يُونُسَ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ أَنَسٍ وَقَعَ فِي هَذَا فَيَكُونُ أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ إِنَّمَا ذَكَرَ الْيَمِينَ فِي الَّذِي جَعَلَهُ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ كَمَا بَيَّنَهُ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ فَسَبَقَ لِسَانُ الزُّهْرِيِّ إِلَى الْوَرِقِ وَوَقَعَ الْوَهْمُ فِي رِوَايَةِ مَنْ رَوَى عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ذِكْرَ الْيَمِينَ فِي الْوَرِقِ وَاللهُ أَعْلَمُ وَقَدْ رَوَى سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ بِلَالٍ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ مَا دَلَّ عَلَى صِحَّةِ هَذَا الْجَمْعِ وَهُوَ أَنَّ الَّذِي جَعَلَهُ فِي يَمِينِهِ خَاتَمُهُ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ وَالَّذِي جَعَلَهُ فِي يَسَارِهِ خَاتَمُهُ مِنْ فِضَّةٍ وَاللهُ أَعْلَمُ

Abu al-Husayn ibn al-Fadl al-Qattan informed us: Abu Sahl ibn Ziyad al-Qattan narrated to us: Sa'id ibn Uthman al-Ahwazi narrated to us: Abu Bakr ibn Khallad narrated to us: Abd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi narrated to us: Hammad ibn Salama narrated from Thabit, from Anas who said: The ring of the Prophet (peace be upon him) was on this one - and he pointed to the little finger of his left hand. The Sheikh said: This appears to be more authentic than the narration of al-Zuhri from Anas regarding the ring he made of silver. Al-Zuhri narrated from Anas that he saw the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) with a silver ring on his hand for one day, then people made silver rings and wore them, so the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) threw away his ring and the people threw away their rings. It seems that the mention of silver in this story was an error that the tongue of al-Zuhri slipped into, and it was transmitted from him with the error. What he threw away was his gold ring, and then he made a silver ring after that. The narration of Ibn Umar indicates that what he placed on his right hand was his gold ring. It appears that the error in the narration of Yunus from al-Zuhri from Anas occurred in this, so Anas ibn Malik only mentioned the right hand regarding the gold one, as Abdullah ibn Umar clarified, and al-Zuhri's tongue slipped to silver. The error in the narration from al-Zuhri about the right hand and silver occurred from whoever narrated it. And Allah knows best. Sulayman ibn Bilal also narrated from Ja'far ibn Muhammad, from his father what supports this reconciliation: that what he placed on his right hand was his gold ring, and what he placed on his left hand was his silver ring.
