أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ فُورَكٍ أنبأ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ثنا يُونُسُ بْنُ حَبِيبٍ ثنا أَبُو دَاوُدَ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ ثنا هَمَّامٌ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَّامٍ عَنْ أَبِي أَسْمَاءَ عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ قَالَ جَاءَتِ ابْنَةُ هُبَيْرَةَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَفِي يَدِهَا فَتَخٌ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ أَيْ خَوَاتِيمُ ضِخَامٌ فَجَعَلَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَضْرِبُ يَدَهَا فَأَتَتْ فَاطِمَةُ تَشْكُو إِلَيْهَا قَالَ ثَوْبَانُ فَدَخَلَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِلَى فَاطِمَةَ وَأَنَا مَعَهُ وَقَدْ أَخَذَتْ مِنْ عُنُقِهَا سِلْسِلَةً مِنْ ذَهَبٍ فَقَالَتْ هَذِهِ أَهْدَاهَا لِي أَبُو حَسَنٍ وَفِي يَدِهَا السِّلْسِلَةُ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ أَيَسُرُّكِ أَنْ يَقُولَ النَّاسُ فَاطِمَةُ بِنْتُ مُحَمَّدٍ فِي يَدِهَا سِلْسِلَةٌ مِنْ نَارٍ؟ فَخَرَجَ وَلَمْ يَقْعُدْ فَعَمَدَتْ فَاطِمَةُ إِلَى السِّلْسِلَةِ فَبَاعَتْهَا وَاشْتَرَتْ بِهَا نَسَمَةً وَأَعْتَقَتْهَا فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي نَجَّى فَاطِمَةَ مِنَ النَّارِ 7557 وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ بْنُ عَبْدَانَ أنبأ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ ثنا تَمْتَامٌ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ غَالِبٍ ثنا مُوسَى ثنا هَمَّامٌ عَنْ يَحْيَى عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَبِي سَلَّامٍ أَنَّ جَدَّهُ حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ أَبَا أَسْمَاءَ حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ ثَوْبَانَ مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ فَذَكَرَهُ بِمَعْنَاهُ فَهَذِهِ الْأَخْبَارُ وَمَا وَرَدَ فِي مَعْنَاهَا تَدُلُّ عَلَى تَحْرِيمِ التَّحَلِّي بِالذَّهَبِ

Abu Bakr Muhammad ibn al-Hasan ibn Furak informed us: Abdullah ibn Ja'far narrated to us: Yunus ibn Habib narrated to us: Abu Dawud al-Tayalisi narrated to us: Hammam narrated from Yahya ibn Abi Kathir, from Abu Sallam, from Abu Asma', from Thawban who said: The daughter of Hubayra came to the Prophet (peace be upon him) with large gold rings on her fingers. The Prophet (peace be upon him) began striking her hand. So she went to Fatima to complain to her. Thawban said: The Prophet (peace be upon him) entered upon Fatima while I was with him, and she had taken a gold chain from her neck and said: Abu Hasan gave this to me as a gift, and the chain was in her hand. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'Would it please you for people to say: Fatima the daughter of Muhammad has a chain of fire in her hand?' So he left without sitting down. Fatima then sold the chain and bought a slave with the proceeds and freed the slave. When this reached the Prophet (peace be upon him), he said: 'Praise be to Allah who saved Fatima from the Fire.' Abu al-Hasan ibn Abdan informed us: Ahmad ibn Ubayd narrated to us: Tamtam Muhammad ibn Ghalib narrated to us: Musa narrated to us: Hammam narrated from Yahya, from Zayd ibn Abi Sallam that his grandfather narrated to him that Abu Asma' narrated to him that Thawban, the freedman of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), said, and he mentioned it with similar meaning. These reports and what has been narrated in their meaning indicate the prohibition of adorning oneself with gold.
