Abu Abdullah al-Hafiz informed us, Abu al-Abbas Muhammad ibn Ya'qub narrated to us, al-Hasan ibn Ali ibn Affan narrated to us, Abu Usamah narrated to us from al-A'mash. And Ali ibn Ahmad ibn Abdan informed us, Ahmad ibn Ubayd al-Saffar informed us, Muhammad ibn Ghalib narrated to us, Abu al-Walid al-Tayalisi narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us from al-A'mash from Umarah ibn Umayr from al-Aswad who said: Abdullah said: Let none of you give the Shaytan a share of his prayer by thinking it is obligatory upon him to turn only to his right. I have seen the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) most often turning to his left. This is the wording of Shu'bah's hadith. In Abu Usamah's hadith: a portion instead of a share, and he said: to his left. Al-Bukhari narrated it in the Sahih from Abu al-Walid, and Muslim narrated it from several routes from al-A'mash.
