Abu Abdullah al-Hafiz informed us, from Abu al-Abbas al-Umawi, from Ahmad ibn Abd al-Jabbar, from Yunus ibn Bukayr, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, from Muhammad ibn Ibrahim al-Taymi, from Muhammad ibn Abdullah ibn Atik, brother of Banu Salamah, from his father who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say: Whoever leaves his house as a warrior in the cause of Allah — then he clasped his three fingers — and where are the warriors in the cause of Allah? Whoever goes out in the cause of Allah and falls from his mount and dies, his reward is upon Allah. If a creature stings him and he dies, his reward is upon Allah. And whoever dies a natural death — he said: This is a phrase I never heard from any of the Arabs before the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), meaning dying on his bed — his reward is upon Allah. And whoever is killed outright has earned Paradise.
