حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ عَنْ سُهَيْلٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ عَلَى حِرَاءٍ هُوَ وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ وَعُثْمَانُ وَعَلِىٌّ وَطَلْحَةُ وَالزُّبَيْرُ فَتَحَرَّكَتْ الصَّخْرَةُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ اهْدَأْ فَمَا عَلَيْكَ إِلَّا نَبِيٌّ أَوْ صِدِّيقٌ أَوْ شَهِيدٌ وَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ نِعْمَ الرَّجُلُ أَبُو بَكْرٍ نِعْمَ الرَّجُلُ عُمَرُ نِعْمَ الرَّجُلُ أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ بْنُ الْجَرَّاحِ نِعْمَ الرَّجُلُ أُسَيْدُ بْنُ حُضَيْرٍ نِعْمَ الرَّجُلُ ثَابِتُ بْنُ قَيْسِ بْنِ شَمَّاسٍ نِعْمَ الرَّجُلُ مُعَاذُ بْنُ جَبَلٍ نِعْمَ الرَّجُلُ مُعَاذُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْجَمُوحِ.

Qutaybah narrated to us, Abd al-Aziz narrated to us, from Suhayl, from his father, from Abu Hurayrah, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was on Mount Hira with Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman, Ali, Talhah, and al-Zubayr when the rock trembled. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: 'Be still, for upon you there is none but a Prophet, a truthful one, or a martyr.' And the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: 'What an excellent man Abu Bakr is! What an excellent man Umar is! What an excellent man Abu Ubaydah ibn al-Jarrah is! What an excellent man Usayd ibn Hudayr is! What an excellent man Thabit ibn Qays ibn Shammas is! What an excellent man Mu'adh ibn Jabal is! What an excellent man Mu'adh ibn Amr ibn al-Jamuh is!'
