Yazid told us: Husayn al-Mu'allim informed us, from Amr ibn Shu'ayb, from his father, from his grandfather, who said: When Mecca was opened for the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, he said, "Withhold your weapons, except Khuza'a against Banu Bakr." He permitted them until they had prayed the Asr prayer, then he said, "Withhold your weapons." The next day, a man from Khuza'a met a man from Banu Bakr at Muzdalifa and killed him. This reached the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and he stood up delivering a sermon and said: "The most hostile of people toward Allah is the one who commits aggression in the sanctuary, the one who kills someone other than his killer, and the one who kills for the blood feuds of the pre-Islamic era." A man said, "O Messenger of Allah, my son so-and-so - I committed fornication with his mother in the pre-Islamic era." He said, "There is no [false] claiming of lineage in Islam; the matter of the pre-Islamic era is gone. The child belongs to the [marriage] bed, and for the fornicator is al-athlab." It was said, "O Messenger of Allah, what is al-athlab?" He said, "The stone. And for the fingers, ten [camels] each; and for facial wounds exposing the bone, five [camels] each; and there is no prayer after the dawn prayer until the sun rises, and no prayer after the Asr prayer until the sun sets; and a woman shall not be married in addition to her paternal aunt nor her maternal aunt; and no gift is permissible for a woman except with her husband's permission; and fulfill the alliances of the pre-Islamic era, for Islam has only increased them in strength, but do not form new alliances in Islam."
