Abdus-Samad told us, Sakhr told us, from Nafi', from Ibn Umar, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade a townsman from selling on behalf of a desert-dweller, and he used to say: Do not go out to meet the caravans, and let none of you sell over the sale of another, and let none of you, or anyone, propose marriage over the proposal of his brother, until the first suitor gives it up or gives him permission to propose.
