الترجمة الإنجليزية
Isma’il told us, from Ibn Awn, from Amr ibn Sa’id, from Humayd ibn Abd al-Rahman, who said: Ibn Mas’ud said, "I was never excluded from private counsel, nor from such-and-such, nor from such-and-such." Ibn Awn said: He forgot one thing, and I too forgot one thing. He said: I came to him while Malik ibn Murarah al-Rahawi was with him, and I caught the end of his conversation, in which he was saying, "O Messenger of Allah, I have been allotted of camels what you see; I would not like anyone among the people to surpass me by even two sandal-straps or more — is that not haughtiness?" He said, "No, that is not haughtiness; rather haughtiness is one who is insolent" — or he said — "who scorns the truth and belittles people."
