'Abd al-Samad told us: my father told me: Hanzalah told us: 'Abdullah bin al-Harith bin Nawfal told us: Mu'awiyah bin Abi Sufyan led us in the 'Asr prayer, then he sent to Maymunah, and then sent another man after him. She said: "The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was preparing an expedition, and he had no mounts. Then some mounts came from the charity, and he set about distributing them among them, and they detained him until the time of 'Asr drew near. He used to pray two rak'ahs, or whatever Allah willed, before 'Asr. So he prayed 'Asr, then returned and prayed what he used to pray before it. And whenever he prayed a prayer or did something, he liked to maintain it consistently."
