حَدَّثَنَا سَكَنُ بْنُ نَافِعٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا صَالِحُ بْنُ أَبِي الْأَخْضَرِ عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو سَلَمَةَ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَنَامَ وَهُوَ جُنُبٌ تَوَضَّأَ وُضُوءَهُ لِلصَّلَاةِ فَإِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَأْكُلَ أَوْ يَشْرَبَ غَسَلَ كَفَّيْهِ ثُمَّ يَأْكُلُ أَوْ يَشْرَبُ إِنْ شَاءَ.

Sakan ibn Nafi' told us: Salih ibn Abi al-Akhdar told us, from al-Zuhri, who said: Abu Salamah ibn Abd al-Rahman informed me that A'ishah said: when the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, wanted to sleep while in a state of major impurity, he would perform ablution as for prayer; and when he wanted to eat or drink, he would wash his hands, then eat or drink if he wished.
