حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَاصِمٍ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ عَنْ أَبِي الْبَخْتَرِيِّ قَالَ حَاصَرَ سَلْمَانُ الْفَارِسِيُّ قَصْرًا مِنْ قُصُورِ فَارِسَ فَقَالَ لَهُ أَصْحَابُهُ يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أَلَا تَنْهَدُ إِلَيْهِمْ قَالَ لَا حَتَّى أَدْعُوَهُمْ كَمَا كَانَ يَدْعُوهُمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ فَأَتَاهُمْ فَكَلَّمَهُمْ قَالَ أَنَا رَجُلٌ فَارِسِيٌّ وَأَنَا مِنْكُمْ وَالْعَرَبُ يُطِيعُونِي فَاخْتَارُوا إِحْدَى ثَلَاثٍ إِمَّا أَنْ تُسْلِمُوا وَإِمَّا أَنْ تُعْطُوا الْجِزْيَةَ عَنْ يَدٍ وَأَنْتُمْ صَاغِرُونَ غَيْرُ مَحْمُودِينَ وَإِمَّا أَنْ نُنَابِذَكُمْ فَنُقَاتِلَكُمْ قَالُوا لَا نُسْلِمُ وَلَا نُعْطِي الْجِزْيَةَ وَلَكِنَّا نُنَابِذُكُمْ فَرَجَعَ سَلْمَانُ إِلَى أَصْحَابِهِ قَالُوا أَلَا تَنْهَدُ إِلَيْهِمْ قَالَ لَا قَالَ فَدَعَاهُمْ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ فَلَمْ يَقْبَلُوا فَقَاتَلَهُمْ فَفَتَحَهَا.
الترجمة الإنجليزية
Ali ibn Asim told us, from Ata' ibn al-Sa'ib, from Abu al-Bakhtari, who said: Salman al-Farisi besieged a fortress among the fortresses of Persia, and his companions said to him: "O Abu Abdullah, will you not advance upon them?" He said: "No, not until I call them as the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to call them." He said: So he came to them and spoke to them, saying: "I am a Persian man, one of you, and the Arabs obey me; so choose one of three things: either accept Islam, or pay the jizyah in hand while you are humbled, without honor, or we will fight you." They said: "We will not accept Islam, nor pay the jizyah, but we will fight you." So Salman returned to his companions, who said: "Will you not advance upon them?" He said: "No." He said: He called them for three days, but they did not accept, so he fought them and conquered it.
