حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ عَاصِمٍ عَنْ زِرٍّ عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَقِيتُ جِبْرِيلَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَام عِنْدَ أَحْجَارِ الْمِرَاءِ فَقُلْتُ يَا جِبْرِيلُ إِنِّي أُرْسِلْتُ إِلَى أُمَّةٍ أُمِّيَّةٍ الرَّجُلُ وَالْمَرْأَةُ وَالْغُلَامُ وَالْجَارِيَةُ وَالشَّيْخُ الْفَانِي الَّذِي لَا يَقْرَأُ كِتَابًا قَطُّ قَالَ إِنَّ الْقُرْآنَ نَزَلَ عَلَى سَبْعَةِ أَحْرُفٍ.
الترجمة الإنجليزية
It was narrated to us by Affan, who narrated to us: Hammad — that is, Ibn Salamah — from Asim, from Zirr, from Hudhayfah, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "I met Gabriel, peace be upon him, at the Rocks of al-Mira, and I said: 'O Gabriel, I have been sent to an unlettered nation — the man, the woman, the boy, the girl, and the decrepit old man who has never read a book at all.'" He said: "Indeed, the Qur'an was revealed in seven modes."
