It was narrated to us by Hammad ibn Salamah, who said: Asim ibn Bahdalah informed us, from Zirr ibn Hubaysh, from Hudhayfah: that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was brought al-Buraq, which is an animal, white, elongated, that places its hoof at the farthest extent of its stride. He said: He and Gabriel did not leave its back until they came to Bayt al-Maqdis, and the gates of heaven were opened for them, and they saw Paradise and the Fire. He said: And Hudhayfah said: He did not pray in Bayt al-Maqdis. Zirr said: I said: Rather, he did pray. Hudhayfah said: What is your name, O bald one? For I know your face but do not know your name. He said: I said: I am Zirr ibn Hubaysh. He said: And how do you know, and do you find that he prayed? He said: I said: Because of the saying of Allah, Mighty and Majestic: "Glory be to the One who took His servant by night" - the verse. He said: And do you find that he prayed? For if he had prayed there, we would pray there as we pray in the Sacred Mosque. And it was said to Hudhayfah: He tied the animal to the ring by which the prophets used to tie their mounts. Hudhayfah said: "Was he afraid it would run off, when Allah had brought it to him?"
