حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ جُرَيَّ بْنَ كُلَيْبٍ النَّهْدِيَّ عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ بَنِي سُلَيْمٍ قَالَ عَدَّهُنَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي يَدِي أَوْ فِي يَدِهِ التَّسْبِيحُ نِصْفُ الْمِيزَانِ وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ تَمْلَؤُهُ وَالتَّكْبِيرُ يَمْلَأُ مَا بَيْنَ السَّمَاءِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَالصَّوْمُ نِصْفُ الصَّبْرِ وَالطُّهُورُ نِصْفُ الْإِيمَانِ.

Waki' told us, from Yunus ibn Abi Ishaq, who said: I heard Jurayy ibn Kulayb al-Nahdi, from a man of the Banu Sulaym, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, counted them off on my hand, or on his own hand: Glorification (Tasbih) is half the Scale, Praise be to Allah (Alhamdulillah) fills it, and saying Allah is Greatest (Takbir) fills what is between heaven and earth; fasting is half of patience, and purification is half of faith.
