Muhammad ibn Ubayd narrated to us: Muhammad ibn Ishaq and Ya'qub narrated to us: My father narrated to us, from Ibn Ishaq: Abbas ibn Sahl ibn Sa'd narrated to me, from his father, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said to Asim ibn Adi: Take her to yourself until she gives birth in your presence. If she bears a child that is reddish, then he belongs to the father who disowned him, Uwaymir; but if she bears a child with tightly curled hair and a black tongue, then he belongs to Ibn al-Sahma. Asim said: When the child was born, I took him, and his head was like the fleece of a small lamb. Then I took hold — Ya'qub said — of his jaws, and there he was, reddish like a small berry, and his tongue confronted me, black like a date. He said: So I said: Allah and His Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, have spoken the truth.
