Al-Walid ibn Muslim told us, al-Awza'i told me, from 'Umayr ibn Hani', that he was told by Junadah ibn Abi Umayyah, from 'Ubadah ibn al-Samit, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "You must hear and obey, in your hardship and your ease, in what pleases you and what displeases you, and even when others are given preference over you; and do not dispute authority with those who hold it, even if you think you have more right to it than they." Al-Walid ibn Muslim told us, Sa'id ibn 'Abd al-'Aziz told us, from Hayyan Abu al-Nadr, that he heard Junadah narrating from 'Ubadah the like of it. Al-Walid told us, he said: Ibn Thawban told me — perhaps 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Thabit ibn Thawban — from 'Umayr ibn Hani', that Junadah ibn Abi Umayyah told him, from 'Ubadah ibn al-Samit, from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, the like of that; he said: "...unless they order you to commit manifest, open sin."
