حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ عَنْ حَسَّانَ بْنِ عَطِيَّةَ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ سَابِطٍ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مَيْمُونٍ الْأَوْدِيِّ قَالَ قَدِمَ عَلَيْنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ جَبَلٍ الْيَمَنَ رَسُولُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ السَّحَرِ رَافِعًا صَوْتَهُ بِالتَّكْبِيرِ أَجَشَّ الصَّوْتِ فَأُلْقِيَتْ عَلَيْهِ مَحَبَّتِي فَمَا فَارَقْتُهُ حَتَّى حَثَوْتُ عَلَيْهِ التُّرَابَ بِالشَّامِ مَيِّتًا رَحِمَهُ اللَّهُ ثُمَّ نَظَرْتُ إِلَى أَفْقَهِ النَّاسِ بَعْدَهُ فَأَتَيْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ مَسْعُودٍ فَقَالَ لِي كَيْفَ أَنْتَ إِذَا أَتَتْ عَلَيْكُمْ أُمَرَاءُ يُصَلُّونَ الصَّلَاةَ لِغَيْرِ وَقْتِهَا قَالَ فَقُلْتُ مَا تَأْمُرُنِي إِنْ أَدْرَكَنِي ذَلِكَ قَالَ صَلِّ الصَّلَاةَ لِوَقْتِهَا وَاجْعَلْ ذَلِكَ مَعَهُمْ سُبْحَةً.
الترجمة الإنجليزية
Al-Walid ibn Muslim told us, al-Awza'i told us, from Hassan ibn Atiyyah, Abd al-Rahman ibn Sabit told me, from Amr ibn Maymun al-Awdi, who said: Mu'adh ibn Jabal, messenger of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, came to us in Yemen at dawn, raising his voice in the takbir, with a hoarse voice, and my love for him was cast upon me, so that I did not part from him until I threw dust over him, dead, in Syria — may Allah have mercy upon him. Then I looked for the most learned person after him, so I came to Abdullah ibn Mas'ud, who said to me: How will you be when rulers come to you who pray the prayer outside its proper time? I said: What do you command me if that befalls me? He said: Pray the prayer at its proper time, and count that prayer with them as a voluntary prayer.
