Then Abdullah ibn Umm Maktum came and said: "O Messenger of Allah, I love striving in the way of Allah, but I have an infirmity, as you see, and I have lost my sight." Zayd said: Then the thigh of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, grew heavy upon my thigh until I feared it would crush it, then he said: "Write: 'Not equal are those of the believers who sit at home, other than those with a disabling injury, and the strivers in the way of Allah.'" Ya'qub told us: my father told us, from Salih, [who said]: Ibn Shihab said: Sahl ibn Sa'd al-Sa'idi told me that he said: I saw Marwan ibn al-Hakam sitting in the mosque, so I came forward and sat beside him, and he told us that Zayd ibn Thabit informed him that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, dictated to him "Not equal are those who sit at home," and he mentioned the hadith.
