Ibn Numayr told us: Musa — meaning Ibn al-Musayyab al-Thaqafi — told us, from Shahr, from Abd al-Rahman ibn Ghanm al-Ash'ari, from Abu Dharr, from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who said: "Indeed Allah, Blessed and Exalted, says: 'O My servants, all of you are sinners except those whom I have spared, so seek My forgiveness and I will forgive you. Whoever among you knows that I have the power to forgive and seeks My forgiveness by My power, I will forgive him and not care. And all of you are astray except those whom I have guided, so ask Me for guidance and I will guide you. And all of you are poor except those whom I have enriched, so ask Me and I will provide for you. If the living among you and the dead, the first of you and the last, the moist and the dry, were to gather upon the heart of the most God-fearing servant among My servants, they would not increase My dominion by the wing of a mosquito. And if the living among you and the dead, the first of you and the last, the moist and the dry, were to gather, and every asker among them were to ask what he wished, and I gave every asker what he asked, that would not decrease what I have except as much as if one of you passed by the edge of the sea and dipped a needle into it then pulled it out. That is because I am Generous, Glorious, Self-Sufficient, doing what I will. My giving is speech and My punishment is speech; when I intend a thing, I only say to it "Be," and it is.'"
